Environment and LPG
LPG is popular with environmentally minded motorists as it produces 20% less carbon dioxide (CO2) than petrol.
Compared to diesel, there are 70% less oxides of Nitrogen, and the fine particle emissions that are also part of these fuels are virtually eliminated with LPG. LPG is particularly cleaner for cold starts and short journeys, which account for about 60% of all motor traffic and urban emissions.
LPG vehicles produce 17% less carbon dioxide than petrol and 2% less than diesel, 120 per cent less NOx than petrol and staggering 2,000 per cent less than diesel and in terms of small particle emissions (PM10) one LPG vehicle will emit up to 120 times less than a diesel vehicle.
With LPG you will:
- Reduce your carbon dioxide emissions, as LPG is a low carbon content fuel;
- Reduce the risk of water or ground contamination in case of spillage, as LPG quickly evaporates;
- Reduce noise pollution, since LPG engines are nearly twice as quiet as petrol or diesel engines.
